It's All About More

It's everywhere...on the news, in magazines, newspapers, and the internet.  The topic?  The health of our nation...from infants to our oldest citizens.  We have fast become a nation of unhealthy and overweight individuals.  Our choices are certainly determining our degree of health and wellness.  Many businesses, schools, and the medical community are urging everyone to become informed and make better choices regarding healthy eating and exercising.  With so much information it can be difficult to know what to do and which plan to follow.

According to an article in  "Women's Health" magazine there are 5 simple strategies to eat more and lose more.  Over the next few weeks I will cover each of these strategies in hopes that you will drop some pounds and feel the effects of your new healthy eating habits.

Commit to eating as close to the earth as possible by consuming more foods that grow on a tree, bush, stalk or vine.  The best sources are fresh fruits, vegetables and nuts.  Studies have found that most are filled with omega-3 fatty acids which help fight abdominal fat.  Try eating these foods first to help reduce blood sugar swings that lead to to hunger.  Be sure to include at least one vegetable, fruit or nuts in each meal and snack.

Next Week:  The Muscle Builder

For more detailed information, read the book "The Women's Health Diet" by Stephen Perrine with Leah Flickinger.

  1. I'll be keeping my eye on this one.

Can you include alternative food sources for those of us who have children with severe nut and other types of food allergies?

    Keep up the good work!!

  2. Hi Norma, I was listening to a guy on TV the other day and these were his three guidelines:
    Eat what you want
    Not too much
    Mostly plants

Thought this was short and simple.
