This week Partners in Learning will be welcoming 36 brand new preschoolers in to our NC PreK classrooms. This will be the very first time many of them have been in any type of school setting.
First day jitters are a common occurrence in these classrooms, for our incoming preschoolers and their families who have never left their children in the care of anyone else.
So, what do we do as parents to curb those uneasy feelings on the first, second, or any day of school?
First, and this is much easier said than done, STAY CALM!! If you are walking in the classroom with a smile on your face and you're relaxed, chances are those calming vibes will transfer over to your kiddo too.
Second, get to know your child's teachers. By developing a relationship with us, you'll be more comfortable leaving your precious children in our care all day.
Third, become a familiar face in the classroom. Being an active participant in your child's education, by volunteering, coming in to have lunch, or just visiting once in a while, will show your child that you're comfortable being there and that you care about their classroom.
Trying one, two, or all three of these things will turn those first day jitters into distant memories!
